Canada Strikes Double Gold at the Verizon North American Junior Championships

Canada's Junior development lugers shone at the Verizon North American Junior Championships held today at the 2002 Olympic Luge venue in Park City, Utah.

Sixteen-year old Mike Jepson of Calgary took Canada's first gold medal of the day in the Men's Junior I event.

Jepson was joined on the podium by the United States' Mark Schmidt (silver) and Brent Wessenberg (bronze). Two other Canadians took part in the event. Calgary's Colin Clachrie finished 8th and Matt Babinec, also of Calgary did not finish his run.

Calgary's Marshall Sevill and Winston Davis delivered Canada's other gold medal in the doubles event.
