After moving to Calgary from Sherwood Park, Alta., Tora’s sporting adventures changed from the flat ice playing ringette to sliding down the icy chute at Winsport’s Canada Olympic Park.
While attending a ringette game at Winsport, Tora’s dad saw a sign that said “Looking for Future Olympians!” Knowing her love for speed, he encouraged Tora to give luge a try. Shortly after she attended a recruitment camp and has never looked back, working her way through the youth development path over the last three years.
Tora has had juvenile type 1 diabetes since she was nine but refuses to let it stop her. She hopes one day to help find a cure for this autoimmune disease. She enjoys spending time with her extended family at the lake playing golf, boating, surfing and fishing. She also plays softball, volleyball and badminton. Tora is in Grade 10 at the National Sport School. A lover of rollercoasters, her favourite place in the world is Universal Studios Orlando!
