New Look Canadian Luge Team Slides into Whistler to Host Eberspächer Luge World Cup

Canadian Team hits track in Whistler on Wednesday at 9 a.m.

WHISTLER, B.C.—A team of 11 Canadian luge athletes led by three women from the Whistler, B.C. area will welcome the world to their home track at the Whistler Sliding Centre while playing host to the Eberspächer Luge World Cup, December 15-16, 2023.

Nearly 100 of the world’s best luge athletes representing 15 countries will blast down the 16-corner track that snakes down Blackcomb Mountain, chasing the World Cup podium in men’s and women’s singles, and doubles races, along with the action-packed Eberspächer Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW.

Media are invited to attend Canadian squad’s training sessions on December 13 at 9 a.m.

Interviews will be conducted on the finishing dock, or by phone, at the conclusion of training.

5:15 p.m. - Dance by Alex Wells - a Lil’wat Mount Currie First Nation Hoop Dancer (Friday 5:15pm)

December 16
10:30 a.m. – Women’s Singles Race (Second Run Live on CBC TV)
2:00 p.m. – Eberspächer Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $10 at the Whistler Sliding Centre gate Children 12 and under are free.

Whistler Media Accreditation:
ALL media must RSVP to Chris Dornan at in advance of the event to receive media credentials for the World Cup. Media can pick up accreditation in the Media Centre at the Whistler Sliding Centre.

Access to Whistler Sliding Centre:
Limited media parking will be available. Public will have free access to the Whistler Sliding Centre venue via the Excalibur Gondola.
