FIL Medal of Honor for Canadians Marlene Vierboom and Harry Salmon

Lake Placid (FIL/14 June 2024) At the 72nd FIL Congress in Lake Placid (USA) on Friday, June 14, 2024, deserving personalities were honored for their outstanding services to the sport of luge. FIL President Einars Fogelis and Secretary General Dwight Bell presented the awards.

Marlene Vierboom and Harry Salmon (both from Canada) were awarded the FIL Silver Medal of Honor for their services to the sport of luge. Alex Gough, two-time Olympic medalist and President of the Canadian Luge Federation, accepted the FIL Medals of Honor on behalf of Marlene Vierboom and Harry Salmon, who were unable to attend the ceremony in Lake Placid.

Marlene Vierboom is responsible for the qualification and organization of judges and officials for FIL events in Canada. Harry Salmon serves as Vice President, Luge of the Alberta Luge Association.
