Junior World Cup Season Draws to a Close

The final events of the last Junior World Cup race of the 2001-2002 were held earlier today.

In the Women's Junior I event, Canada's top result came from Calgary's Meaghan Simister, who finished in 8th place. Fifteen-year old Monica Gorham, of Calgary, finished 10th.

American lugers Julia Clukey and Samantha Retrossi finished one-two for the gold and silver medals. Germany's Sindy Linke captured the bronze medal.

In the doubles event, Canada's Marshall Savill and Winston Davis were standing in 7th place at the end of the first heat, but near crashes in the second heat dropped them into 12th position at the end of the race.

The gold medal was captured by the undefeated American duo of Yukion Griffall and Dan Joye. Germany's Christian Pfalz and Patrick Günther captured the silver medal and their team mates, Franz Konig and Christian Kontny, took bronze.
