Overview
Luge Canada is seeking an experienced and motivated high-performance coach and technical leader to
lead the National Team program through the 2030 Olympic cycle.
Reporting to the High Performance Director, the Head Coach will lead daily training and competition
environments, athlete development, and program delivery. The role includes responsibility for team
leadership, coaching, performance planning, and fostering a safe, accountable, and high-performance
culture.
The Head Coach will work closely with coaching staff, technical experts, and the integrated support team to prepare athletes for World Cup, World Championships, and Olympic performance.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead the delivery of the National Team high-performance program aligned with 2030 objectives
● Co-plan and lead implementation of annual training and competition plans (YTP / Individual
Performance Plans)
● Lead athlete preparation and performance at international competitions
● Provide technical coaching leadership and support staff development
● Collaborate with integrated support team (sport science, medical, S&C) to drive performance
outcomes
● Oversee performance analysis, data monitoring, and structured debrief processes
● Support athlete identification, recruitment, and development pathways
● Contribute to equipment strategy and technical performance in collaboration with specialists
● Build and maintain a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, professionalism, and
Safe Sport
Working Conditions
● Full-time position with significant domestic and international travel
● Involvement in training camps, competitions, and program operations
● Canadian travel required intermittently when not traveling for competitions
Qualifications & Experience
● Proven coaching experience in high-performance or international sport environments
● Demonstrated ability to prepare athletes for elite competition (World Cup / Olympic level
preferred)
● Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills
● Experience working within integrated high-performance systems
● Ability to manage planning, logistics, and performance delivery in a complex environment
● NCCP Competition Development / High Performance certification or equivalent (preferred)
● Background in sliding sports or comparable technical sports considered an asset
● Knowledge of the Canadian sport system (e.g., Own the Podium, Canadian Olympic Committee)
considered an asset
