Canada Brings Home Five Medals from the North American Junior Luge Championships

Canada's young sliders shone at the North American Junior Luge Championships, which were held earlier today on the Olympic luge track at Park City, Utah. Canadians turned in nine top-ten performances; five of them were medals.

In the Youth A Men's event (15 to 17 years of age) Canada swept the podium, with Calgary's Nick Olson, Mike Jepson and Matt Babinec finishing one-two-three.

Canada's Matt McMurray took gold in the Junior Mens' event. His time of with a 1:34.801 put him over a second ahead of silver medallist Brian Gray of the United States. The bronze medal was won by Venezuela's Chris Hoeger.

In the Women's event, Canada's Monica Gorham took the silver medal, a scant 0.222 seconds behind the American Paige Duval. Allyson Berbert, also of the United States, finished in third place.
