Canada's Developmental Luge Team Strikes Gold in Park City, Utah

Canada Luge - Media ReleaseCanada's Developmental Team of luge athletes went head to head with their U.S. counterparts at the Can-Am Luge Challenge held today in Park City, Utah, site of the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Canada had two out three spots on the podium with Matt McMurray claiming Gold and Colin Clachrie bring home a Bronze medal. USA's Chris Hedquist finished second.

In Womens competition, Abbie Lovatt and Jessie Lalonde finished second and third respectively behind USA's B. Calcuterra.

In Men's open competition from Ladies Start, Sam Edney of Calgary placed first.

With some members of the National Team remaining in Europe for Junior World Cup events, Canada's developmental team athletes are all looking to claim a spot with the National Senior Team as the world's best come to Calgary for the Viessmann Luge World Cup December 10-12 at Canada Olympic Park.
