Toronto Media Conference - Track to Torino Slides Through Toronto for Canada's World Cup Athletes

For the first time ever, Canada's top male and female luge athletes will spend two days staging in Toronto before heading off to Europe for the beginning of the 2005-06 World Cup calendar, which will ultimately determine who will compete at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy.Led by Regan Lauscher, of Red Deer, Alta., who became the first Canadian luge athlete to win a World Cup silver medal in luge last year, the youngest and most talented luge team in the history of its program will be named, Monday, October 24, 2005. The event, which will be held at Olympic Spirit at 11 a.m., will also be used to officially unveil the Canadian Luge Team's Karbon race wear for the 2005-06 season.
The event will be a good opportunity for Canadian media to meet one-on-one with the Canadian Luge Team, many of whom will be competing for Canada at the 2006 Olympics, prior to the start of their World Cup season.
