Olympic luge athletes slide into downtown core to challenge corporate calgary to start competition
slide into the downtown core to face corporate Calgary in a start competition on Stephen Avenue, Wednesday, August 13, 2007, at 11:30 a.m.
Led by each of the nation's Olympic luge athletes, members of the Canadian Luge Team will set up two training ramps to put on a start demonstration, and challenge corporate Calgary to some fun head-to-head street racing over the lunch hour.
The Canadian team will also be exchanging their sliding skills for sales tactics as they'll be dressing Calgarians in national team Karbon t-shirts in an effort to raise additional funds for the Canadian Luge Association's high-performance sliding programs. The t-shirts, which have the national team logo on it, are being sold at the event for $25, and come in a variety of adult and youth sizes.
