WALKER ADDS A GOLD AND BRONZE MEDAL TO HIS JUNIOR LUGE WORLD CUP RESUME
Walker, who took the lead into the second heat after posting the fastest time in the opening, let his sled ride on a straight line to the top step of the podium.
I have been so close a couple times so this one felt really, really good, said Walker who finished on top with the tightest of margins at .019 seconds ahead of silver medallist, Ludwig Rieder of Italy.
Walker added a bronze medal to his impressive junior resume yesterday when he paired up with Youth A teammate, Justin Snith, in the doubles competition, finishing just 1.43 seconds off the winning German teams pace. The 2007-08 season is the second for Walker who has now had four podium finishes over five events in Junior World Cup competitions this year.
The doubles medal was rewarding because Justin and I have had less than 30 runs together and it was fun to pull off a top-three with that, said Walker of his new pairing with Snith.
Justin Snith is in his first season on the Youth A Mens circuit and the Park City bronze medal is the first podium finish for this Grade11 student/athlete at the National Sport School in Calgary.
The worlds next generation of Olympic luge athletes will now head to Calgary for the final stop on the Junior World Cup, January 21-27, 2008.
