Luge Canada

Tristan Walker leads young Canucks on golden track back to CanadaCanada's Tristan Walker will lead the charge for a group of young Canadian luge athletes hungry for the international podium on their home track at the Junior World Cup at CODA's Canada Olympic Park in Calgary this week, January 24-25, 2008.

Hot off a gold and bronze-medal performance at last week's World Cup in Park City, Utah, Walker will be looking to add a couple of more medals to his impressive collection this year, and will have the added boost of a hometown crowd cheering him on to the top step of the podium. The Calgary youngster has already made four trips to the podium in junior luge racing this season.

Walker opened last week's competition in the United States with a bronze in the doubles race, solidifying a very new partnership with teammate Justin Snith. The budding young star on the Junior Canadian Luge Team went on to win gold the following day in the men's individual race.

The young Canadian team will be facing tough competition from a field of close to 90 athletes, representing 13 countries, who will all be battling for top position in the final Junior World Cup event of the year on the Olympic Track.

The Canadian Luge Association is the governing body for luge racing in Canada.
