World Cup Luge Slides into Spotlight on Canada’s West Coast

Media invited to Canadian Team’s training in Whistler, December 4 and 5

 WHISTLER, B.C.—The fastest athletes on ice have arrived into Whistler, B.C. as Canada
Hosts the 2013 Luge World Cup, December 4-7.

The Whistler Sliding Centre will play host to the fourth stop on the World Cup luge circuit
as more than 150 athletes representing more than 29 countries will compete in
men’s and women’s singles, doubles and team relay races.

Media are invited to attend the Canadian squad’s training session on December 4 from
2:30-5 p.m., and on December 5 from 8-9:30 a.m. Interviews will be conducted on the
finishing dock, or by phone, at the conclusion of training.

Tickets:
Tickets for the Whistler event can be purchased for $10 now at www.whistler.com, by
calling 1.800.WHISTLER (1.800.944.7853), or in person at the Visitor Centre.
Children six and under are free. A WILL CALL pick-up booth will be set up
at the base of the Excalibur Gondola on December 6 & 7. Spectators can also
purchase tickets by CASH ONLY at the base of the Gondola on race days.

December 4
2:30-5 p.m. – Canadian Team Training

December 5
8-9:30 a.m. – Canadian Team Training

December 6
3 p.m. – Doubles Race
5:30 p.m. – Men’s Singles Race

December 7
3 p.m. – Women’s Singles Race
6:15 p.m. – Team Relay Race

Whistler Media Accreditation:
ALL media must RSVP to Chris Dornan at uccepuevf@funj.pn in advance of the event
to receive media credentials for the World Cup. Media can pick up
accreditation at the media centre which will be set up at the venue.

Media Parking:
Limited parking will be made available for media in Lot 7 and 8. Media may also gain free
access to the venue via the Excalibur Gondola.
