Canadian Luge Championships at Canada Olympic Park

The Olympic Luge season is off to a fast start with Canadian Luge athletes competing for a spot on this year's national team.

The Canadian Luge Championship, being held this weekend at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, is also one of the selection races to determine which athletes will represent Canada on this season's Canadian National Team.

    Date:Sunday, October 22, 2000
    Location:Olympic Luge Track
    Canada Olympic Park
    Time:9:00 a.m. until approximately 11:30 a.m.
    Race Sequence:Mens Singles
    Womens Singles
    Doubles
    (2 runs each)
    Medal Presentations:Approximately 30 minutes after last sled at the Tourist Start House area.


Admission is free to the public. This race promises lots of high-speed action as Canada's best luge athletes race-off for medals and a chance to represent Canada in World competition. This is also a qualifying year for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City so the stakes are high at every race.

The second selection race will be held in Park City, Utah, on November 3 with athletes selected for the Canadian National Team being announced on November 7 prior to their departure to Europe for the 2000/2001 World Cup circuit.
