Canadian Luge Athletes Kick off Post-Olympic Season with Canadian Luge Championships at Canada Olympic Park
CALGARY—Canada’s top luge athletes will return to the ice while vying for the titles of king and queen of Canadian luge when they compete in the Fast Track Capital Canadian Championships, October 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. in Calgary.
The Canadian Championships, which will officially kick off the 2010 competitive season for Canada’s luge athletes, will include the nation’s top male and female athletes racing head-to-head down their home track on the western edge of Calgary at Winsport’s Canada Olympic Park.
Canada’s high-performance luge athletes will take two trips down the 1,250-metre track in their quest to secure the national title.
The race will also be the second of three selection races the Canadian Luge Association will use to determine what athletes will represent Canada on the 2010 World Cup circuit which opens in Austria, November 27
The world’s top luge athletes will slide back to Calgary for the 2010 World Cup, December 10-11, 2010. The Calgary stop of the Viessmann Luge World Cup is the third of nine races during the post-Olympic season. Catch Canada’s top athletes defend their home track as they battle the world’s best for gold.
