From the track to the ski slopes, hundreds of Canadian youth are taking advantage of the legacy of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in their backyard.
In an effort to encourage Canadians of all ages to get more involved in the sport, the British Columbia Luge Association on Canada’s west coast conducted a natural learn-to-luge clinic in March on the outrun of the ski jumping facility at Whistler Olympic Park – the host venue for Nordic sport competitions at the 2010 Games.
Participants received instructions from a BCLA coach and had the opportunity to slide down the hill. Replacing luge helmets for ski and snowboard lids, winter boots along with gloves/mittens, hundreds were introduced to a new Olympic dream
Focused on growing the sport in Western Canada, the Canadian Luge Association conducts regular learn-to-luge camps and clinics throughout the year in the Whistler, B.C. region.
